Case Summary

Owen Shroyer is a Texas-based talk-show host for the far-right conspiracy website Infowars. His show, The War Room With Owen Shroyer, streams daily on the Infowars platform banned.video. The criminal complaint indicates that Shroyer was on promotional materials advertising the march on the U.S. Capitol that were circulated by Infowars, reading: "Be a part of history! Fight for Trump." Shroyer also spoke to a crowd the day before the march at a rally at Freedom Plaza, saying: "Americans are ready to fight. We’re not exactly sure what that’s going to look like, perhaps in a couple of weeks if we can’t stop this certification of the fraudulent election ... we are the new revolution!" On the day of the riot, there are multiple images that allegedly show Shroyer inside the restricted area of the Capitol, including a video that reportedly zooms in on him inside the building, while a person can be heard exclaiming, "Well there’s ... Owen Shroyer up there," court documents indicate. Shroyer also allegedly introduced himself in several of the videos. Court documents also note that his involvement in the riot at the Capitol violated the terms of a deferred prosecution agreement entered after he disrupted a House Judiciary Committee meeting in December 2019.
