Case Summary
On Jan. 6, 2021, video footage from the U.S. Capitol allegedly shows Jonathan David Grace assaulting law enforcement officers by engaging in a "heave ho" push. Shortly after 3 pm that afternoon, Grace can allegedly be seen entering a tunnel that leads to the inside of the building, and joining rioters there who were yelling "push" and moving toward a police line. The rioters’ behavior resulted in a police officer being smashed between a shield and metal door frame, screaming in pain. According to federal court documents, Grace left the area only after being pepper sprayed by law enforcement.
Case History
Grace pleaded Guilty to one charge: Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding Certain Officers. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 1/30/2024 to 24 months incarceration; 3 years of supervised release; $5,000 in fines; $2,000 in restitution; $100 special assessment. Grace received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
