Case Summary

On Jan. 6, 2021, multiple images and police body camera footage taken at the U.S. Capitol show Jonathan Daniel Pollock wearing a ballistic plate-carrier vest, camouflage-patterned shirt and pants, green kneepads and brown tactical gloves, according to court documents. Pollock, alongside another individual, is allegedly seen brandishing flagpoles and charging toward a police line protecting the west side of the building. According to the FBI, after police wrestled the poles away, Pollock fell backward into the crowd. He then reportedly got up, threw his shoulder against the fence separating the police from the crowd and screamed “Let’s go.” Once the fence fell, Pollock can allegedly be seen jumping over the rioters to attack the officers, grabbing one around his waist and pulling the officer down. According to court documents, Pollock is also seen punching two more officers in the face, holding one officer’s neck in a choking action and pulling a riot shield away from another officer and then slamming it into the police line. Later, he is also seen thrusting the bottom edge of a shield into an officer’s throat or face, court documents indicate. In the next two hours, Pollock reportedly moved closer to the building and blocked the entrance to a tunnel leading into the Capitol, not allowing officers to advance out of it. In January of 2021, a co-worker of Pollock called the FBI, identifying him and reporting that he took several weeks off in January to travel to Washington, D.C., with his family. The witness also said immediately once Pollock returned to work, he bragged to his colleagues about his participation on Jan. 6, 2021. On his second day back to work, Pollock called in to report a family emergency and never returned. According to the witness, a separate employee had to go to Pollock’s home address to recover keys and items belonging to the company. Pollock remains at large, according to the Justice Department.
