Case Summary

On Jan. 6, 2021, John M. Cameron allegedly posted a video of himself in what appeared to be a Washington, D.C., metro train station, describing his experience at the U.S. Capitol: "Was it pretty? No. Did it make a statement? Yes." According to court documents, he also posted: “The least safe I felt was when walking back to catch train I was told to FU by a little anti fa BLMer on a Vespa who was traveling the opposite direction.” Cameron first came to the attention of the FBI when a tipster provided a link of Cameron’s Facebook account, which allegedly showed him attending President’s Trump “Stop the Steal” rally and his participation in the riot. According to court records, surveillance footage shows him wearing a baseball cap with white "Make America Great Again" lettering and a black hooded sweatshirt covered by a white T-shirt bearing the words "COUNT ALL LEGAL VOTES.” Cameron was also allegedly seen entering the Capitol through the Senate wing door and exiting 22 minutes later through a broken window.

Sentenced on 8/15/2022 to 36 months of Probation; 30 days intermittent confinement; Special Assessment of $10; Fine of $1,000; Restitution of $500. Cameron received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
