Case Summary

According to the affidavit, four tipsters contacted the FBI to report that John Hubert Getsinger Jr. and Stacie Ann Hargis-Getsinger traveled to Washington, D.C., from South Carolina for the rally on Jan. 6, 2021. One tipster described a video of the pair allegedly entering the U.S. Capitol saying, “This is War! We’re storming the Capitol!” Once inside the Capitol, the charging document says, John Getsinger Jr. appeared to use his cellphone as they walked around the Rotunda. Once they left the Rotunda, the person believed to be John Getsinger Jr. “is seen holding hands with an individual who law enforcement believes to be Stacie Getsinger.” A screenshot of alleged Facebook exchanges between John Getsinger Jr. and others written a few days after the riot acknowledged his presence in the Capitol, according to court documents. One person wrote “Okay, as long as they don’t have you on camera doing any damage, all you did was get pushed with the crowd into the halls.” John Getsinger Jr. replied “Yep and yell a lot.”

Case History

Getsinger pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced 7/12/2022 to 60 days incarceration; 3 years Probation; Restitution of $500; Special Assessment of $10. Getsinger received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
