Case Summary

A court affidavit says a former grade-school classmate sent photos posted on Ashley Aho’s social media accounts to the FBI taken inside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, showing her and Jeremy Sorvisto, whom she identifies online as her fiancé. Posts included in the affidavit show Sorvisto and Aho in the backseat of a car traveling from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to Washington, D.C., captioned with the hashtag “#trump2020.” An FBI examination of Facebook records from Karl Dresch, another defendant from a nearby Michigan town, revealed someone using Sorvisto’s Facebook account sent Dresch a video on Jan. 8, 2021, titled “Ashli [Babbitt] ALIVE and WELL,” which contends the shooting that killed the Air Force veteran during the riot was staged. Instant Messenger records from Aho’s account included in the affidavit show the couple were nervous on Jan. 21, 2021, after Dresch’s arrest. "Every time we hear someone outside we freak tf out,” Aho wrote. “Last one straight says fb friend turned him in. … idk man I might get f**ked.” Publicly available court records do not indicate that Aho is facing charges.
