Case Summary
Jeremy Bertino is a prominent member of the far-right extremist group known as the Proud Boys, and is known within the group as "Noble Beard." Bertino testified to the congressional committtee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol and described how former President Donald Trump's comments that the Proud Boys should "stand back and stand by" galvanized support for the group. Bertino was not in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6, 2021. Federal prosecutors allege that Bertino worked with other members of the group to conspire to "delay by force" the peaceful transfer of power. Bertino pleaded guilty on Oct. 6, 2022.
Case History
Bertino pleaded Guilty to both charges. A proclamation commutes the sentence to time served as of January 20, 2025.
