Case Summary

Footage from inside the U.S. Capitol shows Jeffrey Register, dressed in a hoodie with the slogan, “God, Guns and Trump,” walking around the building and disregarding law enforcement instructions, according to court documents. FBI agents traveled to Register’s workplace in Florida for an interview. At first, Register denied being in Washington, D.C., but after seeing images of himself inside the Capitol, he admitted to traveling there for the “Stop the Steal” rally and entering the Capitol building, because he said that “he wished he had been able to enter the House chamber during the certification process to show his support for the President.” According to the FBI, Register also admitted he had erased pictures he took on his phone from that day as well as attempted to reset his cellphone, so he couldn't be traced. The FBI obtained his records through a search warrant served on Google LLC associated with a Gmail account linked to his cellphone. Register has been released on a $25,000 bond.

Case History

Register pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced 2/24/2022 to 75 days of Incarceration; $10 Special Assessment; Restitution of $500. Register received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
