Case Summary
Jeffrey Munger admitted traveling to Washington, D.C., and entering the Capitol through a broken window, prosecutors say. In an interview at his home in Goshen, Ind., Munger allegedly confirmed what the FBI says it found through cellphone records. Those records, which court documents indicate came through a search warrant to Google, reportedly showed Munger’s device in the area of the U.S. Capitol for about an hour on the afternoon of Jan. 6, 2021. They also allegedly included selfies of Munger, which prosecutors matched to surveillance footage from inside the building. The FBI alleges that Munger was inside the Capitol for about 14 minutes. According to court documents, Munger claimed he only climbed through the broken window because he was being pushed and left the building after seeing people smoking pot.
Case History
Munger pleaded Guilty to the single charge. Sentenced 10/21/2022 to 30 months of probation; 90 days location monitoring; 60 hours of community service, $500 restitution; $10 special assessment. Munger received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
