Case Summary
A tipster sent a YouTube link to the FBI identifying Jeffrey David Reed as one of the men in a group heading towards the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and methodically removing metal barricades set up by law enforcement on the way. According to the FBI, Reed ignored warnings by police to retreat from Capitol grounds and yelled at officers: “You work for us.” CCTV footage allegedly shows him enter the Capitol, carrying a collapsible, tactical style baton that he appears to be concealing inside of his front sweatshirt pocket. The FBI also identified Reed based on a hand tattoo that read "III%" which may refer to the far-right Three Percenters militia group.
Case History
Reed pleaded Not Guilty to all charges. Found Guilty on all charges in a Bench trial on 9/18/2024. Sentenced on 12/20/2024 to 30 months incarceration; 24 months of Supervised Release; Special Assessment of $170; Restitution of $2,000. Reed received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
