Original Case

Galanis's earlier convictions were vacated. On January 31, 2020 he entered a new seven-count guilty plea encompassing multiple securities-fraud schemes, including the Gerova/TAG and tribal-bond conduct. On September 24, 2020 he received 189 months in prison, three years of supervision, $80,869,117.10 forfeiture plus property interests, and $80,817,513.43 restitution. The 2017 sentences are superseded historical dispositions, not the operative sentence at clemency.

Clemency

2025-03-28: Commutation of the entire sentence to time served, with no further fines, restitution, probation or other conditions, for the specified federal case.

Trump Connection

Galanis testified to House Oversight and Judiciary investigators in February 2024. His lawyer Mark Paoletta is identified in the official transcript; Paoletta had served as Trump's OMB general counsel. These are documented relationships, not proof of a clemency bargain or of allegations in his testimony.
