Case Summary
Federal prosecutors allege that Jalise Middleton, along with her husband, Mark Middleton, traveled from Texas to Washington, D.C., where they assaulted police officers outside the Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021. According to court documents, Jalise Middleton is seen on police bodycam footage from that day as she "repeatedly grabs and strikes" an officer with her hand, and grapples with officers "as various flags are jabbed toward the officers’ faces." Police then used a chemical spray on her and her husband, forcing them to retreat, the court documents say. Jalise Middleton allegedly commented on Facebook after the riot, "We fought the cops to get in the Capital and got pepper sprayed and beat but by gosh the patriots got in!" When someone asked her on Facebook why she had fought the police, prosecutors say, Jalise Middleton responded, "[T]o send them b******* a clear message that this won’t be tolerated." The Dallas Morning News reported that Jalise Middleton is an account executive with a home health care company. The Middletons were arrested in Texas on April 21, 2021.
