Case Summary
"It's wartime!... Charge! Charge the motherf***er!....We ride for Trump, we die for Trump!" screams Jacob Kyle Wiedrich on a SnapChat video he posted under the online name “Jacob Weed” on Jan 6, 2021. Court documents say he recorded himself as he made his way from the National Mall to the inside of the Capitol. Wiedrich wore a red "Make America Great Again" hat and a T-shirt with a partial picture of the space shuttle. According to the FBI, footage shows Wiedrich entering the Capitol through a broken window, and once inside, he is seen screaming and taunting a police officer. He was apparently so confrontational that another member of the mob is seen restraining him. He was arrested in Salt Late City.
Case History
Wiedrich pleaded Guilty to the single charge. Sentenced 1/19/2022 to 3 years probation; 90 hours location monitoring/home confinement; special assessment of $10; restitution of $500; 100 hours of community service. On 11/13/2023 the court grants the motion for Early Termination of Probation and his probation is terminated. Wiedrich received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
