Case Summary
The federal government alleges that Jack Griffith can be seen in photos and videos from inside the Capitol building during the rioting on Jan. 6. After the riot, prosecutors say, Griffith posted on Facebook, "I even helped stormed [sic] the capitol today, but it only made things worse." In that same post, he said, "The New World Order beat us," an apparent reference to a popular conspiracy theory. He added, "Why, God? Why? WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN US? Unless...Trump still has a plan?" The FBI arrested Griffith in Tennessee on Jan. 16, 2021.
Case History
Griffith pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges were dismissed. Sentenced 10/28/2021 to 36 months Probation which includes 90 days of home confinement (an additional 14 days was added due to probation violations); $10.00 special assessment; restitution in the amount of $500. Griffith received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
