Case Summary
According to an FBI statement of facts, Ian Ross Horvath contacted the FBI to explain that he saw images on the U.S. Capitol Violence Most Wanted site and identified himself as the subject in those images. He described his activities on Jan. 6, 2021, in an interview with the FBI, saying he entered the building and walked around as far as the Rotunda, court records indicate. Officials were allegedly able to locate him after reviewing video captured inside the building. He wore a fur hat "with what appears to be a raccoon style tail attached" and a tan winter coat, according to court records. He was arrested in South Bend, Ind., on August 17, 2022.
Case History
Horvath pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 5/12/2023 to 3 years of probation; $500 in restitution; $10 special assessment. Horvath received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
