Case Summary
The FBI was tipped off to Hunter Seefried by his coworker, who said Seefried bragged about being in the Capitol with his father on Jan. 6, 2021. Investigators reviewed a video on Twitter that shows Hunter Seefried punching out glass in a window in the Capitol complex after others in the crowd broke it with a wooden 2x4. Once Seefried allegedly cleared the window, the crowd, including the Seefrieds, climbed through and entered the Capitol building. Both father and son confirmed participating in the breach with federal investigators and both are facing federal charges. The older Seefried was captured in one of the more memorable photographs from that day, carrying the Confederate battle flag inside the Capitol building.
