Case Summary
Two family members identified Grayson Sherrill to the FBI as being inside the U.S. Capitol during the riot on Jan. 6, 2021. The FBI also identified Sherrill in security footage from the building and in a photograph taken by photojournalist Saul Loeb in which Sherrill poses inside the Capitol on Jan. 6 in a "Keep America Great" sweatshirt next to a statue of Dwight D. Eisenhower. In the photo, he also appears to be "carrying a long, cylindrical-shaped object, approximately two to three feet long in his left hand," according to court documents.
Case History
Sherrill pleaded Guilty to lesser offense of Assaulting, Resisting or Impeding Certain Officers. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 5/5/2023 to 7 months incarceration; 12 months supervised release; Special Assessment of $100; Restitution of $2,000. Sherrill received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
