Case Summary
Prosecutors allege that Geoffrey Sills assaulted multiple law enforcement officers during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. According to the government, Sills can be seen on police body camera footage and other videos throwing "pole-like objects" at officers trying to protect the outside of the Capitol. Later, Sills allegedly joined rioters inside the Capitol, where he "repeatedly struck multiple police officers with an extended baton while using a strobe light, apparently to try to disorient the officers," according to the Justice Department. Sills was arrested on June 18, 2021, in Virginia.
