Case Summary
Court documents indicate that Freedom Vy was identified as a person involved in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot after law enforcement obtained and searched the phone records of Zachary Rehl, who is also charged and is the president of the Philadelphia chapter of the Proud Boys, a far-right group. Vy is charged with Brian Healion and Isaiah Giddings, who were all allegedly part of a Telegram message with Rehl and one other unidentified person who was not in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021. The group members coordinated their travel from Philadelphia to D.C., including sharing contact information and blood types, and Giddings, Healion and Vy stayed together at The Darcy hotel in D.C. on Jan. 5, 2021, according to court records. On the morning of Jan. 6, 2021, Vy and Healion took a selfie together at the Washington Monument. They both flashed the "OK" hand sign, which is associated with the Proud Boys, according to court documents. The four men then allegedly entered the west side of the Capitol, near the Senate, and appear there in photos and videos.

Vy received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
