Case Summary
Prosecutors claim photos and videos taken on Jan. 6, 2021, show Emily Hernandez inside and outside the U.S. Capitol building, holding aloft a fragment of a wooden sign bearing the name and title of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Capitol officials estimated it will cost $870 to replace this nameplate, taken from above Pelosi's office door. Hernandez's attorney told KMOV in St. Louis that Hernandez was "swept into the mass delirium of that event" and would just like to deal with the consequences and move on.
Case History
Hernandez pleaded Guilty to the charge. Sentenced 4/11/2022 to 30 days incarceration, one year of supervised release, 80 hours of community service, $500 restitution, $25 special assessment. Hernandez received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
