Case Summary
Reddit users dubbed Edward Francisco Rodriguez “#SUITMACER” based on a video in which he sprays a chemical irritant at law enforcement officers while dressed in a suit, federal prosecutors say. Videos on Reddit and Twitter also showed Rodriguez giving interviews to reporters, according to court documents. In one video, the FBI says Rodriguez said, “Here in America, we fight back. We will never surrender to dictatorship, corruption, communism or socialism. We the people will never put up with their bullshit.” Court documents show that tipsters identified Rodriguez based on his Century 21 Real Estate profile. The FBI says two former co-workers were also able to confirm Rodriguez’s identity in the videos.
Case History
Rodriguez pleaded Guilty to one charge: Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding Certain Officers Using a Dangerous Weapon and Inflicting Bodily Injury on Certain Officers. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 11/6/2023 to 36 months of incarceration; 36 months supervised release; $100 special assessment. Rodriguez received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
