Case Summary

A family member identified Eduardo Alvear Gonzalez in YouTube videos where he was allegedly seen standing inside the Capitol building. According to an FBI affidavit, in a Zoom video that Gonzalez allegedly recorded and posted the day after the Capitol riot, he can be seen sharing his laptop screen and narrating multiple photos and videos of himself and others inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. In parts of the broadcast, he is depicted showing a folder on his computer named “Captiol [sic] Storming,” which appears to have around 50 photos and videos saved to it, the FBI said. In a video he showed, Gonzalez is allegedly seen breaking into the Capitol with other rioters while saying, “We’re taking our country back.” He narrates that other rioters were looking for “doors to break in” and that law enforcement was probably told to “stand down, do not f*** with them, you guys will get hurt.” According to the complaint, as Gonzalez keeps narrating photos, he can be heard saying, “This is footage from my camera. This is me there, I’m speaking from firsthand experience” and “I’m showing everyone how I barged into the Capitol.” In the broadcast, Gonzalez also allegedly explains that he smoked marijuana inside the Capitol and that he gave the additional “joints” he had on him to fellow rioters.

Case History
