Case Summary
Douglas Wyatt of Fallston, Md., was identified to the FBI by no fewer than five tipsters, all of whom investigators say pointed to Wyatt’s Facebook posts before and after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. Court documents show that Wyatt assured friends on Facebook he planned to be at the Capitol, and afterwards posted a photo captioned “What a day Lots of pepper spray & a few rubber bullets Stop the steal!” Court documents also show Wyatt posted in a comment that he “did not enter the capital or engage the police.” The FBI says they have video evidence that Wyatt did engage with police, including spraying a chemical spray towards officers, wrestling a flag back with another rioter and screaming obscenities at police. Investigators say Wyatt can be seen in photos and videos from the Capitol alongside another man, believed to be his stepson, Jacob Michael Therres. Wyatt and Therres were both arrested in November of 2022.
Case History
Wyatt pleaded Guilty to the charge. Sentenced on 2/2/2024 to 46 months incarceration; 36 months supervised release; $2,000 restitution; and $100 special assessment. Wyatt received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
