Case Summary
Federal investigators say they learned about Dominick Madden's alleged involvement in the Capitol riot through an article in the New York Post that identified Madden as a New York City sanitation worker. Madden can allegedly be seen in surveillance footage from inside the Capitol during the riot. Prosecutors say they also obtained evidence that Madden traveled to the Washington, D.C., region from license plate readers. Madden, prosecutors allege, was wearing a "Q" sweatshirt on the day of the rioting, suggesting that he's an adherent of the far-right conspiracy theory QAnon. The New York Post reported that he also shouted, “When we go one, we go all!" — a QAnon slogan. According to court documents, Madden later told investigators with the New York City Department of Sanitation that he was "out on sick leave" on Jan. 6 and "admitted to being out of the house without authorization during this time frame." Madden was arrested on Jan. 21, 2021, in New York. New York's Daily News reported that Madden has since resigned from his job with the Sanitation Department.
