Case Summary
Dillon Colby Herrington was turned in to the FBI by someone who has known him for 17 years after he appeared on an FBI wanted poster, court documents indicate. In video footage from Jan. 6, 2021, Herrington, dubbed the #MAGALumberjack by the FBI, can allegedly be seen throwing a 4-by-4 piece of lumber and also a metal barricade in the direction of law enforcement. According to court documents, Herrington did not hit any officers with the objects. On the evening of Jan. 6, 2021, Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police detained Herrington on U.S. Capitol grounds over having a knife sticking out of his pocket, court documents say. The officers placed the knife into Herrington's backpack and escorted him off the premises. The officers took down Herrington's contact information and released him. The FBI does not believe Herrington entered the Capitol building. Herrington served as an Indirect Fire Infantryman in the U.S. Army from 2017 to 2019. He had no deployments, an Army spokesperson confirmed.
