Case Summary
Video footage from the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, shows David Arredondo grabbed a police officer’s arm amid a “mob of rioters” and attempted to pull that officer away from a door so others could enter, according to an FBI statement of facts. The document alleges that surveillance footage taken inside the Capitol shows Arredondo spent about 40 minutes inside the building. Arredondo and two relatives flew from El Paso, Texas, to Washington, D.C., and spent several nights at a hotel about a half-mile away from the Capitol, according to records obtained by the FBI. He was arrested Oct. 26, 2022, in El Paso.
Case History
Arredondo pleaded Guilty to all charges. Sentenced on 8/8/2024 to 33 months incarceration; 36 months of supervised release; restitution of $2,000; special assessment of $305. Arredondo received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
