Case Summary
Prosecutors allege that Daniel Goodwyn "is a self-proclaimed member of the Proud Boys," the right-wing extremist group. He has also been associated with Anthime Gionet, better known as "Baked Alaska," who is a prominent figure on the far-right Internet. After the 2020 presidential election, Goodwyn urged people to protest at state capitols and quoted Donald Trump's statement from a presidential debate that the Proud Boys should "stand back and stand by." "Await orders from our Commander In Chief," he posted on Nov. 7, 2020, according to federal court records. On Jan. 6, 2021, Goodwyn allegedly entered the Capitol building. Prosecutors allege that he called police officers defending the Capitol from the mob "oath-breakers" and later claimed on Instagram, "I didn’t break or take anything but I went inside for a couple of minutes.”

Goodwyn received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
