Case Summary
According to a criminal complaint, Dana Winn is accused of storming the Capitol with his girlfriend, Rachael Lynn Pert. The couple was identified by one of Pert’s co-workers, said the FBI. In a video recovered from Winn’s Facebook account, he can be heard allegedly saying, “We’re headed to D.C. because us as American patriots, we're tired of all this s***. It's time to take a stand.... America needs to wake up," according to the court documents. He also adds that they brought flagpoles “to hit Antifa in the head if need be.” In an interview with the FBI, Winn allegedly admitted to entering the Capitol and identified himself in a picture that was taken inside the building on Jan. 6, 2021. According to a sentencing memorandum filed in federal court, Winn is a U.S. Navy veteran.
