Case Summary
Curtis Logan Tate came to the attention of federal authorities after a tipster said Tate had posted images on his social media that indicated his presence at the Jan. 6, 2021, riot. In an interview with the FBI a few days after the riot, Tate admitted to having been at the U.S. Capitol that day, but claimed he never entered the building. However, Tate can allegedly be seen on police body camera footage and surveillance footage at multiple times striking multiple officers with a metal baton and a broken furniture leg, as well as entering a tunnel leading into the Capitol building. In videos posted to his social media, court records state that Tate can be heard yelling "We’re tearing this motherfucker down!” and "Push forward! Our house!”
Case History
Tate pleaded Guilty to the three charges. Sentenced on 7/9/2024 to 63 months incarceration; 36 months of supervised release; $300 special assessment; restitution of $3,176. Tate received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
