Case Summary

The FBI identified Cole Temple and his mother, Jodi Wilson, as having gone inside the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot based on tips sent to the bureau. The pair allegedly can be seen in surveillance footage from the building holding up their phones, documenting the day. Temple can be seen, according to court documents, in a hooded sweatshirt and a dark blue cap with the word "America" across the front. An FBI affidavit says that during the investigation, a witness pointed to Temple's Snapchat account, where he apparently recorded video while in the Capitol. Recordings on his account reportedly show the inside and outside of the building, and one part of the video appears to show Temple filming himself inside and yelling, "[J]ust broke in this b****." Court documents say that when the FBI interviewed Temple, he said that law enforcement allowed him and his mother into the building. He also admitted to posting material on Snapchat when inside the Capitol, court documents say.

Case History

Temple pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 7/5/2023 to 36 Months Probation; 30 days location monitoring replaces 14 days intermittent confinement; Special Assessment of $10; restitution of $500. Temple received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
