Case Summary

Christopher Warnagiris was identified from photos and screenshots posted to an FBI website by a witness who believed him to be an active-duty Marine officer stationed at the Marine Corps Base Quantico, according to court documents. The court documents depict him as one of the people at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, who struggled against Capitol Police officers at the doors to the East Rotunda; he entered the building from another door and attempted to push the doors open to grant more rioters entrance. He allegedly pushed one Capitol Police officer attempting to secure the doors. At one point, RMG News video obtained by the FBI allegedly shows him using his body to keep a door open and reaching to pull others inside. FBI agents went to his military command, where another witness identified Warnagiris from photos and video, according to court documents. Investigators determined that Warnagiris was an active duty officer in the Marine Corps, and he has been stationed at the Marine Corps Base, Quantico, since the summer of 2020.
