Case Summary
A person turned Christian Kulas in to the FBI after seeing videos on an Instagram account registered to Kulas that showed the events of Jan. 6, 2021, according to court documents. Those videos allegedly depicted the Trump rally, people marching to the U.S. Capitol, people scaling the building's walls, a crowd moving up the steps of the building, and, later, the inside of the Capitol, with a man heard saying, "[S]torming the Capitol." Kulas was identified as that male voice and as the person shown in selfie mode in one of the videos by a former classmate, court documents indicate. In a different message on social media recovered by the FBI, Kulas' mother was asked if the videos showed her son. According to court documents, she responded yes, with an emoji.
Case History
Kulas pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 4/26/2022 to 6 months of Probation; 60 days home detention; Special Assessment of $10; Restitution of $500. Kulas received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
