Case Summary
Geolocation data and biometric facial recognition software helped to identify Chad Suenram at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to an FBI statement of facts. Federal court records state that Suenram painted an American flag on the right side of his head and also wore a plastic facemask decorated like the American flag. Suenram allegedly entered the Capitol twice, often filming his time inside on his phone. After exiting the building the second time, he allegedly remained in the front of a mob that was confronting police officers at the North door. According to sentencing memos filed in court, Suenram served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Case History
Suenram pleaded Guilty to one charge: Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 10/21/2024 to 24 months of probation; 14 days intermittent confinement; Special Assessment of $25; Restitution of $500; 150 hours of community service. Suenram received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
