Case Summary
Carla Krzywicki and her mother, Jean Lavin, breached the U.S. Capitol together on Jan. 6, 2021, federal prosecutors allege. During the attack, Krzywicki and Lavin allegedly climbed a bike rack that rioters had used as a ladder to reach the building and entered through the Senate wing door. Both women can allegedly be seen on video wearing pro-Trump clothing and walking throughout the Capitol. Soon after the attack on the Capitol, the FBI received a tip from a source that Krzywicki had posted images from in and around the Capitol that day to Facebook. The Facebook post, which is cited in the charging documents, states: "we come for the government officials that are ruining our country. we go straight to the source. change needs to happen. that is our house and you work for us." Court documents state that FBI agents later interviewed both Krzywicki and Lavin about the events that day, and both allegedly admitted to the FBI that they had entered the building.
Case History
Krzywicki pleaded Guilty to one charge: Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 4/22/2022 to 36 months of probation with 90 days home detention; a special assessment of $10, and restitution of $500. Krzywicki received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
