Case Summary
Prosecutors allege that Brandon Mackie attended the pro-Trump protest in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021, along with his brother Nathan Mackie and a hunting buddy named Daniel Hatcher. After the rally, the three men then walked to the west side of the U.S. Capitol building, court documents state. Prosecutors say that the three men then all entered the Capitol building through a broken window and exited after approximately two minutes. According to court documents, Hatcher was interviewed by the FBI just a week after the Capitol riot and admitted to breaching the building. The FBI allegedly interviewed Nathan Mackie in Sept. 2021 and he admitted he was "up there" on Jan. 6 and asked if he would face jail time. Brandon Mackie was arrested on Feb. 13, 2024, in Texas.
Case History
Mackie pleaded Guilty to two charges: Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building; Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. On 1/21/2025, the court grants the government's Motion to Dismiss the Indictment with prejudice.
