Case Summary
Bradley Bennett was identified with his significant other, Elizabeth Rose Williams, by multiple tipsters, including one who found him while researching people connected to QAnon, a far-right conspiracy theory. This tipster had routinely been checking Bennett's social media posts and noted that the content was "more combative" than other QAnon posts and that Bennett made many posts encouraging people to gather in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021. Other tipsters saw posts from Bennett of himself and Williams inside the U.S. Capitol, in both the Capitol Crypt and the gallery of the Senate chamber. Law enforcement was also tipped off to a post that appeared to be copied from Bennett's Facebook page and reads in part, "There was Ant-ifa instigators. But I saw no severe violence. And certainly not from the right." Federal prosecutors add that one tipster says Bennett deleted most or all of the posts he made related to the riot within 24 hours of the event.
Case History
Bennett pleaded Guilty to all charges except Obstruction of an Official Proceeding. On 9/12/2024, the government's Motion to Dismiss Count One, Obstruction, is granted. Sentencing reset for 2/12/2025. On 1/21/2025, the court grants the government’s motion to dismiss the case with prejudice.
