Case Summary
The FBI originally identified Billy Gober as a person who participated in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol based on his military records, according to federal court documents. Then, about a year and a half after the riot, an unknown person also contacted the FBI to tell the bureau that a person in one of their "Be on the Lookout" posters was Gober, court records indicate. The FBI also obtained Gober's travel records, which allegedly showed he had flown from Texas to Washington, D.C., on Jan. 4 and returned on Jan. 8. Additionally, Gober can allegedly be seen in police body camera footage from the riot assaulting police officers, by charging and striking an officer, and also trying to grab another officer's baton.
Case History
Gober pleaded Not Guilty to all charges. Jury trial set for 3/3/2025. On 1/23/2025, the court grants the government’s motion to dismiss the case with prejudice.
