Case Summary
“The snow will turn red with blood again on January 6, 2021,” posted Biao Qu on Twitter, days before the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol, according to court documents. Qu also re-tweeted a post, which read: “On January 6, bring your gun to Washington to show your firepower.” According to the FBI, Qu arrived in Washington, DC, on Jan. 5 and the following day attended the rally organized by former President Donald Trump. CCTV and social media footage appear to show Qu entering the Capitol building, walking around the Rotunda and in Statuary Hall. In a video he took of himself inside the building, he can be heard in Mandarin saying: “We are inside the Capitol. We have not seen any Senators or Congressmen yet.” In August that same year, the FBI interviewed Qu at his workplace. He denied having entered the Capitol and refused to answer any more questions after agents showed him images of himself inside the building. The FBI received approximately 41 tips identifying Qu inside the Capitol.
Case History
Qu pleaded Not Guilty to all charges. Jury trial set for 3/31/2025. On 1/23/2025, the court grants the government’s motion to dismiss the case with prejudice
