Case Summary
Antony Vo documented his participation in the U.S. Capitol riot on Facebook and Instagram, according to court documents. Prosecutors say two witnesses shared images with the FBI they say came from Vo’s accounts. One photo, according to the FBI, shows Vo inside the Capitol Rotunda with a woman believed to be his mother. The witnesses both told the FBI Vo engages in conspiracy theories, prosecutors say. One witness said Vo subscribes to libertarian ideologies, court documents show, while the other called Vo “an avid supporter of former President [Donald] Trump.” A search warrant to Facebook yielded conversations Vo had on Facebook and Instagram, the FBI says. Prosecutors say he acknowledged his presence at the Capitol and sent photos as proof. He wrote, “President [Trump] asked me to be here tomorrow so I am with my mom LOL,” and, “My mom and I helped stop the vote count for a bit,” according to court documents. Prosecutors say Vo claimed the results of the 2020 presidential election were fraudulent and that police let rioters into the Capitol; he also reportedly said he and his mother “stormed” the Capitol. The FBI says it also served a search warrant to Verizon. The warrant led to records showing a device with Vo’s number that used a cell site serving an area that includes the inside of the Capitol, court documents say.
