Case Summary

According to court documents, Antionne Brodnax, who goes by his rapper name "Bugzie the Don," was identified after he was seen in a CNN livestream on Jan. 6, 2021. According to an FBI affidavit, open source searches also led investigators to the now-deleted social media account @bugziethedon, which apparently showed Brodnax walking around and inside the U.S. Capitol building. Tipsters also provided several photos of Brodnax posing in front of and inside the Capitol on Jan. 6. In one photo, Brodnax can be seen sitting on a U.S. Capitol Police SWAT truck, and in another he is sitting on the statue of Norman Borlaug in the Capitol’s Statuary Hall. In an interview with the FBI, he told investigators that he was in the area to shoot a music video. During the shoot, he said he saw a group of protesters storming the Capitol building. Brodnax admitted to following the rioters and entering the Capitol building, but said that he was there peacefully. He added that he spent about 40 minutes in the building walking around and taking pictures and videos of the architecture, according to the affidavit. Brodnax has been using the photos from the riot to promote his new Bugzie the Don album, which is titled, "The Capital. [sic]"

Case History

Brodnax pleaded Guilty to all four charges. Sentenced on 12/19/2022 to 5 months incarceration; 1 year of supervised release; $70 special assessment; $500 restitution. Brodnax received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
