Case Summary

A Facebook friend tipped the FBI off to Anthony Puma, who allegedly livestreamed his actions on Jan. 6, 2021. FBI agents then interviewed Puma, who reportedly admitted to being inside the U.S. Capitol on the day of the insurrection but denied seeing anyone looting or committing violence. GoPro video footage Puma took on that day, obtained by the FBI, allegedly shows him climbing through a window to enter the Capitol building. A search warrant issued for Puma's Facebook account showed that he posted ahead of the insurrection: "On the 6th when we are all there in the capital and he is givin [sic] his second term the people will see. Then you never know we might have to start killing some commie b******s. #stopthesteal." On Jan. 5, 2021, according to a legal filing, he also posted, "War is coming," and, "Hopefully we are storming the House of Representatives tomorrow at 100 pm." After the insurrection, he reportedly wrote: "When I got up and over the wall I walked right into the front door and walked around the capital bldg."

Case History

Puma pleaded Guilty to one charge: Obstruction of an Official Proceeding. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 3/21/2023 to 9 Months of Incarceration; 24 months of supervised release; Special Assessment $100; Fine $500; Restitution of $2,000. Puma received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
