Case Summary

"We all know they changed the rules mid-game and they are not being held accountable and that’s a shame," Anthony Michael Mazzio Jr. allegedly said to a camera crew inside the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot, according to a statement of facts. Cellphone data obtained through the legal process also allegedly shows a phone, connected to a Google account matching Mazzio's name, that was in the Capitol during the riot. Additionally, Capitol security camera footage shows Mazzio entering through the Senate Wing door at 2:15 p.m., according to court records. Mazzio is allegedly seen in that footage wearing a camouflage jacket and pants, a tactical vest, and holding a Trump flag. FBI special agents interviewed Mazzio's neighbor, who knew him well. The neighbor confirmed that the person shown in images inside the Capitol was Mazzio, according to court documents. The FBI agents also talked with Mazzio at his house and confirmed a visual match between him and the photos collected. Mazzio was arrested on April 4, 2022, in Dothan, Ala.
