Case Summary
According to federal court records, Anthony Mastanduno appeared in photos from the U.S. Capitol riot that were recovered on a phone seized during another arrest related to Jan. 6, 2021. In these photos, Mastanduno is allegedly inside the Capitol building, wearing a red Trump baseball cap, camouflage jacket, and backpack. Publicly available footage and photos also allegedly show Mastanduno striking officers with a telescoping baton and using a police shield to push into a tunnel leading to the building, which earned him the nickname "#ShieldGrampy" on websites and social media pages dedicated to identifying people from the Jan 6. riot. According to a sentencing memo filed in court by the defendant, Mastanduno served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mastanduno pleaded Guilty to all charges. Sentenced on 6/27/2024 to 57 Months incarceration; 24 months of Supervised Release; Special Assessment of $630; Restitution of $4,174. Mastanduno received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
