Case Summary
Several witnesses identified Anthony Alexander Antonio to the FBI after he appeared on one of the bureau's "Seeking Information" posters. On Jan. 6, 2021, Antonio is allegedly seen on police body camera footage shouting at officers outside the U.S. Capitol, yelling: "You want war? We got war. 1776 all over again." Later, Antonio can allegedly be seen on surveillance video holding a riot shield and entering a tunnel that leads into the Capitol. As a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Department was dragged down a flight of stairs by rioters, Antonio is seen on video "squirting water and throwing his water bottle" at the officer, court documents indicate. Afterward, Antonio is heard telling another officer "This isn't against you personally. This is against our country," according to police body camera footage. Later, Antonio is allegedly on video speaking into a bullhorn, saying "This is a peaceful protest now and always has been" and adding that he was trying to "work with" law enforcement. Soon after, he is seen on video climbing through a broken window into the Capitol, court documents indicate. In an interview with the FBI, Antonio said he saw "death" in the eyes of the officer who was dragged down the stairs. "I didn't help him when I should of," he told the agents. According to the FBI, Antonio had on a tactical vest that had a patch on it for the Three Percenters, a far-right, anti-government militia group.
