Case Summary
At around 4 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2021, police officers patrolling the U.S. Capitol heard voices coming from a locked office. Once inside, officers found Alexander Fan, Juan Rodriguez, and an unknown third person, according to federal court documents. Federal prosecutors allege that the three had entered through a window that had already been broken by a different rioter. Rodriguez is also charged in relation to the riot. The police officers escorted Rodriguez, Fan and the other person out of the building, court records state. In May of 2021, federal authorities interviewed Fan, who allegedly admitted he entered the Capitol and provided the authorities with a selfie he took in the office where police had found him.
Case History
Fan pleaded Guilty to one charge: Enter and Remain in a Room in a Capitol Building. The other charges are dismissed. Sentenced on 2/16/2024 to 12 months probation; $10 special assessment; $500 restitution; 100 hours of community service. Fan received a full pardon on January 20, 2025
