Case Summary
A tipster, who said they had known Adam Villarreal for decades, contacted the FBI and provided images that were allegedly taken by Villarreal at the U.S. Capitol. That person also provided Villarreal's cell phone number and an image of a construction-style helmet Villarreal had reportedly worn at the Capitol, court documents indicate. Surveillance footage from the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, also allegedly shows Villarreal in the tunnel of the building, first striking an officer with a wooden stick and later shouting at the group around him: “Use the shield! Make a wall!” in order for a barricade to be formed against law enforcement. He is later also allegedly seen holding a police shield and pushing against officers.
Case History
Villarreal was declared a fugitive. On 1/21/2025, the court grants the government’s motion to dismiss the case with prejudice and arrest warrant quashed.
